How did this resident hear about The Emerald Peek: Mr. Estrada was referred to our community through HVH2ICU for wound care on a prior amputation site, left toe amputation, and PT/OT treatment.
Orlando was a resident that had a prior amputation of his right leg below the knee in 2015, as well as an amputation of his toe on the left foot. He was sent to our community for wound care and rehab with our amazing Rehabilitation Team. Orlando was seen at HVH due to discomfort in his left foot but was ultimately seen for wound care during his stay here within our community. Orlando was recommended for PT/OT to assist him in regaining a prior level of functionality. Orlando experienced some limping and challenges getting around, but with PT/OT, he regained the strength he worked so hard to regain. Orlando’s transition into our community was challenging, especially being away from his family and loved ones. As time passed, his outlook on going home became his motivation, and his determination to achieve his goal became a mission to complete Rehab at Emerald Peek with our incredible Rehabilitation Department.
Orlando said his stay here at The Emerald Peek was terrific, and he appreciated everyone and everything our team did for him. Orlando said his objective while at our community was to succeed at the goals created for him while in Rehab. He displayed astounding strength, and he did just that with the outpouring of support that he received from our staff. Orlando expressed how our community made his stay here warm and home-like. He said our nursing team and rehabilitation department did a remarkable job assisting and providing him with the required treatment to gain strength.
Orlando’s own purposefulness inspired him to drive forward. It instilled the strength he needed to bear weight and walk out of our community. Orlando came into our community with limited strength to walk on his own. Through Rehab, he moved to a walker and then on his own. Orlando left a fantastic imprint of his stay with many residents and continues to inspire those with whom he has become friends. He has done a fantastic job, working hard to make it home in four months and fifteen days. He applauded the Rehab staff members and the Concierge and recuperated beautifully at home. He has occasionally reached out to see how we are doing and is happy to be home.
Orlando was discharged on November 15th, 2024. He was extremely excited to be able to spend the Thanksgiving Holiday with his family and loved ones. He greatly appreciates that our staff could assist him in gaining the mobility and strength he needed to walk out of The Emerald Peek. Orlando says the most significant highlight of his discharge is going home.
Orlando, your strength and willpower and allowing your team here at The Emerald Peek to assist you in your recovery time have been a pleasure. Thank you for allowing me to be your Concierge at The Emerald Peek.
