How did this resident hear about The Emerald Peek? Through Westchester Medical Center.
Alethea was admitted to Westchester Medical Center after she fell in her home. It was determined that she fell down a flight of up to 20 stairs. She was evaluated and treated and then transferred to The Emerald Peek Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Alethea’s supportive therapy in our community consisted of Rehab, which incorporated PT/OT to assist her in restoring her strength and functionality in her independence.
Alethea was battered and bruised and came into our community with a neck collar to provide support, but her spirit and determination after my first interaction with her told me that her fall wasn’t going to stop her from achieving her goals in rehab to go home. Regardless of her discomfort, Alethea always greeted me with a smile in the morning and in Rehab when I went to visit. Alethea also went the extra mile when she was cleared to use a walker; she would walk in the hall, even making her way down to activities, socializing with others in the community. Alethea’s transition into our community was challenging after encountering such a trauma to her body, but she made the best of it with the biggest supporter being her team in our community. Alethea said nothing but praise for how appreciative she was of everyone in our community and how they helped her focus on going home. Aletha’s determination to go home is what aided her in all her accomplishments in succeeding in her goals. It was influenced by her supportive team consisting of Rehab, Nursing, and Concierge at The Emerald Peek Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Alethea was grateful and appreciative of the time everyone took to make her stay a pleasant one. Alethea said her goal was to make it out of Rehab before her birthday, and she did just that. She was able to make it home 14 days before her birthday. She set a goal, and she absolutely crushed it in the most beautiful way to celebrate with her friends and family. She displayed remarkable strength that can inspire many, and she did just that with the support that she received from our staff.
Alethea’s commanding attitude gave her the incentive to continue; she entered our community due to a serious fall at home, first doing Rehab in her room, then transitioning into our amazing gym, and progressively working her way to using a walker to walk out of our community, making us all proud. Alethea has done a remarkable job working so hard to make it home in two months and two weeks. She had the pleasure of meeting her team prior to returning home…her Concierge, Unit Nurse Manager, PT, Dietician, LPN, and CNA. Aletha expressed extreme gratitude towards the Rehab staff members and the Concierge.
Alethea was discharged on April 3rd, 2025. She was excited to make it home in time to celebrate her birthday and left our community with her Rehab Certificate of completion with a bright smile on her face. Alethea…your strength, willpower and allowing your team here at The Emerald Peek to assist you in your recovery time has been a pleasure. Thank you for allowing me to be your Concierge at The Emerald Peek.
