How did this resident hear about The Emerald Peek: Westchester Medical Center.
H2ICU for wound care on a prior amputation site, left toe amputation, and PT/OT treatment.
Brad came to our community due to a fall he had which left him in unbearable pain and limited mobility. Brad experienced a fall while out with his wife on an injury he already had to his back prior to being admitted to Westchester Medical Center. Brad was seen at Westchester Medical Center where he was referred to our community for rehab which includes PT/OT to assist him in regaining a prior level of functionality. Brad experienced numbness, pain and weakness resulting in challenges getting around but with PT/OT he would be able to regain his strength that he worked so hard to get back. Despite his discomfort he always managed to put a smile on his face and was appreciative of all the work we put into his care when he arrived. Brad displayed so much enthusiasm when it came to going to therapy and was always going the extra mile doing his exercises in his room that therapy wanted him to work on, when he didn’t have a session. Brad’s adjustment into our community was a challenge but he made the best of it with the biggest supporter being his wife. She was with him every day cheering him on with his team here at The Emerald Peek which led to graduating from rehab with remarkable results. Brad’s sheer will to achieve his goals was motivated by his loved ones and supportive team consisting of Rehab, Nurse and Concierge at The Emerald Peek Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Brad was thankful and appreciated everyone and everything that our team did for him while at our community. Brad said his vision was focused on meeting his goal to be home with his wife, they are the sweetest couple, and you can see where the support not only in his family, also in his team enabled him to complete meeting all the requirements that Rehab needed from him. He presented astonishing strength, and he did just that with the outpouring of support that he received from our staff.
Brad’s advantageous demeanor gave him the motivation to continue, gave him the strength he needed to walk out of our community with his loved one. Brad came into our community with difficulties due to weakness and limited strength to walk on his own to progressively being able to walk with a walker and on his own. Brad has done a remarkable job at working so hard to make it home in one month and nine days from his admittance date. Brad had the pleasure of meeting his team, consisting of the Concierge, Unit Nurse Manager,
PT, Dietician, LPN and CNA. Brad praised the Rehab staff member and the Concierge and was doing amazing at home surrounded by his loving family.
Brad was discharged on February 25th, 2025. Brad spoke so highly of his family and grandchildren, he even showed pictures on his wall of their amazing drawings. He couldn’t wait to see his grandchildren so that was definitely a highlight of his discharge. Brad your strength, willpower and allowing your team here at The Emerald Peek to assist you in your recovery time has been a pleasure. Thank you for allowing me to be your Concierge at The Emerald Peek.
